Friendship Shelter to host virtual town hall event on June 1

Throughout the statewide stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19, Friendship Shelter has continued to work with homeless men and women throughout south Orange County.

Beginning in early March, the organization’s two shelter programs – Bridge Housing on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach and the ASL emergency shelter on Laguna Canyon Road – as well as its permanent housing program, have implemented significant changes in order to follow guidance from federal, state, and local agencies.

To help the community learn about how this health crisis has impacted its clients, staff, and organization, Friendship Shelter will host a virtual town hall meeting on Monday, June 1 at 4:30 p.m. The organization aims to share its experiences working with homeless men and women during this time of unprecedented challenge, as well as important lessons learned along the way. Community members are encouraged to submit questions in advance of the town hall via email.

“Housing and health are interconnected, and in this time we are seeing that connection more clearly. There are some significant differences in how our clients in shelter versus housing are coping with our current situation,” said Dawn Price, Executive Director at Friendship Shelter. “We’re happy to have this opportunity to meet virtually to answer questions, share some of our recent learning and talk about what’s next for us.”

All are invited to join the virtual event, and a link to join will be sent to all RSVPs closer to the town hall event. If you would like to submit a question in advance and/or RSVP, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
