John Jorgenson Quintet joins Laguna Beach Live! on Jan 22 at [seven-degrees]

Hailed as “Perhaps the best jazz guitarist alive” by The New York Times, John Jorgenson, along with his quintet, will be joining Laguna Beach Live! on Wednesday, Jan 22 at the distinctive [seven-degrees].

First coming to national attention in the mid 80s as co-founder of successful country-rock act The Desert Rose Band, an eclectic array of artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, and Barbra Streisand were drawn to add John Jorgenson’s artistry to their own recordings.

While a member of the Desert Rose Band, Jorgenson won the Academy of Country Music’s “Guitarist of the Year” award two consecutive years.

Join John Jorgenson along with his quintet on Jan 22 for a night of incredible jazz

In the 90s, the award-winning guitar trio The Hellecasters, originally conceived by John as a “one off” gig for fun, gave audiences a chance to experience John’s fret-board fireworks and the trio’s three original albums remain favorites of guitarists everywhere.

Having been a fan of the Desert Rose Band, Elton John invited Jorgenson to join his band in 1994 for an 18-month tour that stretched into a six-year stint of touring, recording, and TV appearances with the British superstar. John still joins Elton on stage today in addition to collaborations with other artists including Sting and Billy Joel.

Joining John on stage will be: jazz violinist Jason Anick; composer/arranger and jazz guitarist Max O’Rourke; respected Gypsy Jazz bassist Simon Planting; and veteran percussionist Rick Reed.

The concert is from 6 - 8 p.m.; doors open at 5. A full bar is available as well as dinner on a pre-sale basis. Tickets are $35 in advance, $55 with dinner, or $40 at the door and can be purchased at www.lagunabeachlive.org. For more information, call (949) 715-9713.

Jazz Wednesdays Winter Series starts February 12th with Grammy Award-winning Peter Erskine Trio.
